Everybody in this day and age has an idea or at least a vague representation of what the term global warming is or what it entails, a simple definition culled from livescience.com explains global warming as follows â€Å" Global warming is the term used to describe a gradual increase in the average temperature of the Earth’s atmosphere and its oceans, a change that is believed to be permanently changing the Earth’s climate†. Some of the terms that will be used frequently are explained below; Climate:The weather conditions prevailing in an area in general or over a long period of time. Climate change: The change in the statistical distribution of weather patterns that last for an extended or long period of time Anthropogenic: Resulting from the influence of human beings on nature (simply put; caused by humans) Greenhouse gases: Any gas that absorbs infrared radiation in the atmosphere, Examples of greenhouse gases important to this discussion are: Carbon dioxide, Methane, Ozone, Nitrous Oxide e.t.c This point of this essay, as the topic identifies, is to discuss global warming and the actions taken.
